This university project consisted of producing a 30 seconds to 1 minute piece of abstract animation, based on an instrumental song. I chose the song “In the hall of the mountain king”, by Edvard Grieg, because I consider it to be a very powerful and energetic piece of music. I started by sketching a few thumbnails, colour studies and whatever came to my mind while listening to the song. It reminded me of caves, tunnels, fire and explosions, so I tried to convey those into the colour palette, shapes and movements I used.
