Children illustrations - "O Avô Minguante"
Submission for the Pingo Doce Illustration Contest
Every year, Pingo Doce launches a contest for both emerging writers and illustrators to participate, the Prémio de Literatura Infantil. The outcome? The publication of a children's book. This was my submission for the 9th edition of the contest.
The story of this edition was about the relationship between a grandson and his grandpa, and how the latter "shrinks" gradually over the years - becoming smaller and smaller in the eyes of the grandson, who keeps on growing. With this in mind, I played around with their dimensions and proportions in relation to each other throught the illustrations I created, and always incorporating elements I found important in the story: oranges, poetry books and the grandpa's wheat field and house. Overall, it was a beautiful challenge, even though I didn't win.
